Crummy or Just Thrifty? + Bad Dutch Jokes & Games

June 20th, 2010 § 3

Why do the Dutch smile when it there is lighting outside?
because they think they will have a free photo taken

While reading a great posting titled “Are you deprived or just smart and happy“, I felt myself adjusting a belief about money and thriftiness. There is nothing like bringing a belief to the table and re-evaluating it’s utility. And this was a good one to bring up. » Read the rest of this entry «

I have lost the plot. Will you?

June 18th, 2010 § 2

My American fiancee has a way of smuggling in words and expressions I often use in to her vocabularly. She was talking to a friend when she was referring to someone as having ‘lost the plot’. The expression makes her giggle for some reason, but her friend didn’t know what it meant so she had to explain it. » Read the rest of this entry «

Belief Expiry & The Purpose Of Beliefs

June 9th, 2010 § 0

Whether we adopt beliefs from other people, ascertain them (sub)consciously from the observation of our surroundings or choose them based on our preferences, the only reason to maintain a belief is for a purpose.

We rarely assess our beliefs for what they are truly worth. Some beliefs lose their value over time. Some are just there because they were impressed on us by a dramatic experience. They had a purpose during their inception, but later its value gets lost in the context of every day life. » Read the rest of this entry «

The Million Dollar Question

June 7th, 2010 § 1

Yesterday while chatting enjoying and icecream with a friend at leicester square in London, we were entertaining the idea of winning the lottery. My friend remarked that a 60 million pound win would be too much, but anywhere up to 10 million would be sweet. I started thinking myself what it would be like to instantly have a couple million dollars added to my bank account, just like that. » Read the rest of this entry «

Why Troubleshooting Productivity and Spirituality Go Hand in Hand

June 6th, 2010 § 1

I failed at three studies before I found one that I loved and completed (Psychology in case you were wondering). But after I dropped out of my 2nd study I was so disenfranchised with my results and my effectivity that I became determined to ‘improve my self’. I sought after techniques to make me a better and faster learner. If only I could learn quicker, I would sail through whatever course I took, whether the material was interesting to me or not. I had time to make up after all. » Read the rest of this entry «

What to do with Your Fear of Being an Underachiever

August 20th, 2008 § 0

Have you ever compared yourself to people that seem to be so far ahead of you? Maybe you’re looking at people in your company, your business field, your competitors and you see yourself as not as successful. Or maybe you are comparing your love situation to people that seem to be so happy and enjoying a romantic life, when these things seemed to be beyond your grasp.
Thoughts like these are often closely followed by ruminating over your past. All the mistakes you may have made, the things you may not have achieved. The experiences you missed out on. How far behind you seem to be.

If anything of this is familiar to you, you have stumbled onto some of your own limiting beliefs. They are stopping you from moving forward.

The good news is…They are just beliefs! And beliefs are just the result of your mind thinking things over and over again that at some point had a logical reason when it first occurred. The wonderful thing is you can change the way your mind thinks by providing new reasons.

I know I had all kinds of these thoughts and beliefs. In fact I was beating myself up for being an underachiever and not taking action when I could have in the past. This does not do wonders for your self esteem. In fact, the more you do this, the poorer you will feel and the worse you will perform.

So I knew this was a very important belief to change around. Life is too short to be disproportionately critical of yourself. No one becomes a better person by being critical of themselves. Now is the time to start being your own best friend and adopt new beliefs that will inspire and change your life for the better. The effects will be so good and the positive effect you will have on the people around you, will amaze yourself.

The belief we are wanting to put to rest that you’re in any way behind the curve. The first thing to know on an intellectual level is that you should compare yourself to you, and not to anyone else. Comparing yourself to anybody else is like comparing Michael Schumacher losing position in the second lap of a 60 lap race to Michael Jordan shooting the game winning shot in his final playoff appearance in a bulls uniform. It makes no sense.

So now what remains is something you feel might were true and I’m referring to that feeling for not being in the place you want to be and having missed out or underachieved in life. This belief brings about a distinct feeling, that you can change around. To help get a fix on this, it is helpful to:

Imagine what it would be like to be far ahead and know that you are doing extremely well.

You are right on track, everything you’ve done up till now was from a larger perspective right on cue and in perfect order.

What happens when you explore that feeling right now?

One of the most profound things you can know today, is that you can trust your life. Whatever place you are in, you are in the right place. The most important things you can really know and really feel pulsing as a truth, is that you can trust your life and you are doing perfectly as you are. Beliefs don’t come much more profound than that. And I tell you, it’s not just a belief – it’s a spiritual truth.

Where Am I?
